Capital Dub
Your new favorite band: Capital Dub. 6 friends out of Orange County, bringing a unique and modern sound and spreading positive vibes to Southern California’s Reggae music scene. Heavily influenced by Sublime and the way they mixed old school Roots Reggae into Punk-Rock and Hip-Hop, Capital Dub was born in 2020. The band consists of Lead singer Ben Davidson, Drummer Alex Headley, Guitarist Rory McFarland, Bassist Mike Alexander, Pianist Braeden “House” Rhinehart, and percussionist Naaman “Spike” Rodriguez. With 10+ years of friendship, they’ve formed an unbreakable bond and electric chemistry! They started jamming all around OC and quickly began sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the scene such as King Yellowman, Johnny Osbourne, Josh Heinrichs, Eli-Mac, E.N Young, etc…!
On May 28th, 2024, Capital Dub released their debut album Somethin’ Simple, and packed out the Garden Amphitheater with friends, family, and loyal fans for their album release show a few days later! They recorded the album with the help of their friend Lew Richards and everyone else at 17th Street Recording Studio in Costa Mesa, Ca, and featured their friends and fellow musicians Shakamon, Dread Kennedy, and Bobby Hustle. “Big ups to our homies that have helped us along the way, Shakamon, Dread Kennedy, Lakedub, The Originalities, Bobby Hustle, Tunnel Vision, Lew Richards, and everyone else at the 17th Street Recording Studio!”
The success of their album would later land them the opportunity to perform at the annual US Open Of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Ca, on August 5th, 2024. This was an extremely nostalgic and monumental moment for Capital Dub, as they had been watching other bands jam at the US Open from a young age! After taking a few months off for lead singer Ben to heal from knee surgery, the band made a strong comeback opening up for Through The Roots at the Garden Amphitheater on December 5th, 2024.
Starting off the new year strong, Capital Dub released their newest single, ‘In The Mood Tonight’, March 11, 2025. Written with the help of Jamey Zeb Dekofsky -Drummer of Tribal Seeds- and Lew Richards, this song blends classic reggae rhythms with a modern, laid back vibe. Shortly after releasing the song, the band was voted into ‘Cali Roots 2025 Wild Card Contest’ and won a spot on the lineup! They jammed the OG Stage on Friday, May 23rd, bringing in a whole new crowd and becoming a fan favorite. On day 2 of the festival Capital Dub performed at The Nowell Family Foundation booth, kicking off their pop-up set with Burritos - A tribute to Sublime. As if the festival couldn’t get any better for the boys, Josh Heinrichs and Skillinjah brought out Ben to perform a song on the main stage for day 3!
